Eleven people were killed and more than 900 inmates have escaped after unidentified assailants attacked a jail in the Democratic Republic of Congo's restive east, an official said.
"The Kangwayi prison in Beni was attacked at 3:30 pm by assailants whose identity is not yet known," Julien Paluku, governor of North Kivu province, told reporters on Sunday.
"For the moment, out of 966 prisoners, there are only 30 left in the prison."
The Beni area and the neighbouring town of Butembo had been put under curfew from 6:30 pm, according to Paluku.
"Only police officers and soldiers should be out from this time," he said.
Located in the north of the troubled North Kivu province, Beni has been the scene of a wave of violence since 2014 that has seen nearly 700 civilians killed, many of them hacked to death.
The government blames the killings on a rebel group, the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF).
Not much is known of the group, which appears to be dominated by Ugandan Muslims who were initially focused on overthrowing Uganda's President Yoweri Museveni.
Several dozen suspected ADF members were imprisoned at the Kangwayi jail.
The attack came a day after the ADF attacked a police station and a prosecutor's office in the capital Kinshasa, killing a police officer and seriously injuring four others after a series of similar attacks over the past three weeks.
It also comes after two jailbreaks in Congo in the past month.
On May 19, dozens of prisoners escaped from a dilapidated prison in Kasangulu, about 40 km west of Kinshasa.Just two days earlier, rebels from Bundu Dia Kongo (BDK) - a secessionist rebel group that rejects Kinshasa's authority and wants to set up a parallel state in the west of the country - had attacked Kinshasa's main prison, freeing their leader and 50 others.
The violence has erupted as Congo is mired in a deep political crisis tied to President Joseph Kabila's hold on power.
Tension has been mounting across the nation since December when Kabila's second and final term officially ended.
Under a power-sharing agreement brokered by the influential Catholic Church on New Year's Eve, Kabila is due to remain in office until elections at the end of 2017.
However, Kabila earlier this month seemed to back away from the deal to hold a vote this year.
"I have not promised anything at all," Kabila told the German weekly Der Spiegel in a rare media interview. "I wish to organise elections as soon as possible".
"We want perfect elections, not just elections," he said.

Police Parade Notorious Kidnapper Onuamadike, Six Gang Members
Nigeria Police Force officers paraded a notorious kidnap gang leader, Chukwudi Dumeme Onuamadike, also known as "Evans," and six of his co-conspirators at the Lagos State Police Command on Sunday.
Officers stormed the kidnappers' den and engaged in a gun battle which lasted several hours before arresting Mr. Onuamadike and six of his gang members in Ikeja, Lagos State, according to the press release issued by Mr. Moshood.
Their victims include: Mbarikatta William Uboma, Paul Cole, Mohammed Jamal (a Lebanese national), Kingsley Nwokenta, Anthony Ozoanidobi, Leo Abraham, Ojukwu Cosmas, James Uduji, Chief Raymond Okoye, Uche Okoroafor, Elias Ukachukwu, Francis Umeh, and Danatus Dunu.

The police explained that the gang held their victims captive at House No. 21 Prophet Asaye Close New Igando, Lagos State. The gang would demand millions of dollars in ransom in exchange for the victims, some of whom were held for several months.
Such high ransom payments allowed Mr. Onuamadike to purchase choice properties and luxuries, including two mansions in Magodo GRA Phase 2 worth an estimated N300m, two houses in Accra, Ghana, and exotic cars, expensive watches, and jewelry.
The gang members arrested alongside Mr. Onuamadike were identified as: Felix Chinemerem, Nwosu Chikodi Chukwuma, Uchechukwu Amadi, Ogechi Amadi, Suoya Paul, and Ikenna Emeka.
Police recovered the following arms from the notorious gang: five AK-47 rifles, one AK-49 rifle, two double-barrel rifles, two English pistols, 59 AK-47 magazines with ammunition, 1272 rounds of AK-47 live ammunition, and five different plate numbers.
The public relations officer described the arrest of Mr. Onuamadike and his gang as a “huge success,” ensuring Nigerians that the Force would continue its efforts to prevent kidnappings and prosecute perpetrators.

Revealed! Brave policeman in robbery video died in April
A policeman, who has been described by many Nigerians as a hero after a viral video showed him gunning down one of the four armed robbers who attacked a bank in Imo State in February 2017, died two months after the incident, Saturday PUNCH has learnt.
The three-minute video, apparently a CCTV footage from the bank, has been circulated on news sites and blogs in the last few days, quickly becoming one of the most talked about events of the past week in Nigeria.
The three-minute video, apparently a CCTV footage from the bank, has been circulated on news sites and blogs in the last few days, quickly becoming one of the most talked about events of the past week in Nigeria.
It shows a car entering the bank premises, only to be followed by a black Hyundai Elantra, some seconds later. Four men emerged from the vehicle, with three holding weapons, which looked like AK47 rifles.
The video shows the first person out of the vehicle releasing a shot which caused many people at the entrance of the bank, including the uniformed security man, who opened the gate to flee.
But the robbers were swiftly engaged in a gun battle. Shots rang out from the security post at the bank’s entrance, shattering the car windows. An occupant of the car shot back. But one of the robbers, who had tried to attack the occupant of the security post, was instantly shot dead.
The video shows Iboko who shot him escaping from security post, while one of the other robbers pursued and shot after him. The Imo State Police Command told our correspondent that owing to the multiple gunshot injuries sustained by Iboko, he succumbed to his injuries two months later while in intensive care.
Spokesperson for the command, Mr. Andrew Enwerem, explained that two other policemen were in the security post during the shootout and also sustained gunshot injuries.
“They were in intensive care for up to two months. The two survived but Iboko died. He was a sergeant and mobile policeman,” Enwerem said.
Prodded for more details, Enwerem said he did not have information about the deceased policeman’s age or his hometown.
Since the video became viral, there have been calls to reveal the fate of the cop as Nigerians demanded more recognition and honour for the deceased policeman.

Igbo Quit Notice: Northern Elders Forum Backs Arewa Youth Group

The Northern Elders’ Forum (NEF), on Friday, expressed support to the call by the Coalition of Northern Youth Groups for Igbos to leave the region within three months.
The group made its position known despite widespread condemnation that followed the ultimatum earlier handed by the Arewa Youth Consultative Forum. Ango Abdullahi, the NEF spokesperson, told journalists in Zaria on Friday that it was hypocritical for the Igbos to continue to live in other parts of the country while agitating for Nigeria’s break up.
Mr. Abdullahi said: “I am disappointed in the decision taken by Northern Governors’ Forum disowning and condemning the agitation by this young agile and progressive youth groups.
“Let me ask these Northern governors, who are they representing, are they representing spirits, ghost or people of the north?
“Recently, people from eastern part of this country, specifically Igbo, were busy calling for the Sovereign State of Biafra and from all indication, their leaders including governors are behind them.”
According to him, whoever feels Nigeria “is not conducive for him” let him quit, adding that what the northern youth groups did was not a sin.”
He lamented that none of the Northern governors reacted to the persistent call for the actualization of Biafra and other agitations.
Mr. Abdullahi said when Nnamdi Kanu was released on bail recently, over 100 vehicles escorted him to his residence including big personalities from the southwest and southeast.
“This is somebody who has been agitating for the breakup of Nigeria but his people were behind him, therefore, I am behind the youths.
“This is because the Northern youths are pushed to the wall, we have been calming them down in any event similar to this,” he noted.
Speaking specifically on the Igbos, Mr. Abdullahi said the people from the south were always pretending that people from the north were cheating them.
“These people always pretend that the North is cheating them, not minding the fact that Southern Nigeria was developed by resources from the North.
“Please, look for a book written by Adamu FiKa, the Waziri of FiKa on Nigeria’s budget before and after independence.
“Each year, up to the time Nigeria gained its independence, none of the two regions was able to provide for itself.
“I mean none of the Western and Eastern regions had the money to effectively run the affairs of its region until they get financial support from the Northern region,” he said.
He recalled that the tradition had remained during the colonial masters and nothing changed after they left the country.
Mr. Abdullahi said it was the same money from the North that was used to construct Nigerian Railways, refineries and other facilities.
“First oil exploration was conducted using money from groundnut pyramid, cotton, hide and skin among other cash crops from Northern Nigeria.
“However, these people tend to forget all these goodies provided by the North toward ensuring the unity and corporate existence of Nigeria.
“They always look down on us, feeling that Northerners are parasites in this country,” he said.

UK Election Final Update
Theresa May has decided to join forces with the DUP to form the new Government. She has announced the following Cabinet positions:
Exchequer: Phillip Hammond
Home: Amber Rudd
Foreign Affairs: Boris Johnson
Brexit: David Davis
Defence: Michael Fallon
Given these were the same ministers in these same posts, it would appear that this is the price she paid to stay leader.
Her co-chiefs of staff Nick Timothy and Fiona Hill would appear to be on the out. They have come in for heavy criticism for their insular style (and obviously helping lose the election).
Many party members are expressing their dismay at the lack of a leadership change. The Guardian reports one MP saying, "We all f@$%ing hate her. But there is nothing we can do. She has totally f@$%ed us".
The first Brexit talks start in 10 days. Europe comes to the talks fully aware that the other side of the table does not have the full confidence of her people, and a shaky confidence of her party.
An impromptu protest formed outside Downing Street calling for May to quit and not do a deal with the DUP.
Finally, we have confirmation on the last seat of Kensington. A Conservative stronghold, and the country's richest constituency, Labour has taken it.
Final tally
Conservative: 318
Labour: 262
SNP: 35
Lib Dem: 12
DUP: 10
Sinn Fein: 7 (will not sit in Parliament)
Plaid Cymru: 4
Green: 1

UK Election: Hung Parliament
British exit polls are calling for a hung parliament. This makes Theresa May's election call a massive self-own.
3 weeks ago she was expected to demolish Labour and set the Tories up for a massive majority in Parliament. Over the past 3 weeks she worked ferociously to destroy that advantage, and is now looking to make a deal to get back into power.
When she called the elections, PM May had a 6-seat majority in Parliament. Desirous of a larger majority so she could carry out Brexit with fewer road blocks, she called an election.
Labour looks to increase its strength in Parliament from 232-266, the Liberal Democrats expected to go from 8-14. The only party looking to go down (besides the Tories) is the Scottish SNP who have 56 seats right now.
Already, the Pound has begun to crash against the Dollar.
To reiterate, here are the exit poll standings:
Conservatives: 314
Labour: 266
LD: 14
SNP: 34
Jeremy Corbyn, widely believed to be unelectable has led a resurgence of Labour.
The real question now is, how far off the exit polls are from the real result, and how much of a gap PM May will have to make up.

Comey Testimony Bombshells: Trump Lied‼
Ex-FBI Director Comey's testimony in Congress is gripping must-see-TV in the US. Here are the main highlights:
- He called Trump a liar for saying that the FBI was in chaos under him.
- He made the detailed memos because he was afraid Trump would "lie" about their private conversations.
- The President's spokesperson came out during the testimony to assert that the President is no a liar.
- Comey said he hoped there were tapes of his conversations with Trump as Trump had alleged, and he gave his consent for their release, if they do indeed exist. The President's spokesperson refused to deny that there are indeed tapes of their conversations.
- Regarding the infamous dossier that was prepared on Trump by an ex-English intelligence agent, Comey refused to answer any questions in open session.
- He also refused to answer in open session any questions about the Flynn investigation, the Russia investigation.
- Comey believes he was fired because of the Russia investigation. “It’s my judgment that I was fired because of the Russia investigation,” Comey said. “I was fired in some way to change, or the endeavor was to change, the way the Russia investigation was being conducted.” Comey said this was “a very big deal,” not only because of the FBI’s investigation. He also said it was “a very big deal” if any Americans were involved in coordinating with the Russians.
- The former FBI director also revealed he was the one who leaked his memo, through a Columbia University professor, about Trump demanding "loyalty" to him over dinner.
- In a cryptic note, Comey mentioned that the FBI expected Attorney General Jeff Sessions to recuse himself from the Russia-related investigation. This turned out to be correct, as Sessions would later do just that, but Comey would not specifically say why he thought the attorney general would recuse himself.

10,000 S-African Residents Evacuated Amid Fire🔥, 8 Dead

Up to 10,000 people have been evacuated from a scenic coastal town in South Africa that has been devastated by wildfires, officials have said. Military equipment was being deployed to douse more than 25 fires in Knysna, they added.
At least eight people have been killed in the storms and fires that have been raging in the town and other areas of the Western Cape region. Strong winds from the worst winter storm in 30 years fuelled the fires.
At least 150 properties have been destroyed in Knysna, according to the fire service. The town has a population of 77,000. It lies 500km (310 miles) east of Cape Town on South Africa's famed Garden Route.
"Humanitarian support is being co-ordinated for an estimated 8,000 to 10,000 residents of the Greater Knysna area, after devastating fires," said James-Brent Styan, spokesman for the Western Cape local government ministry.
The South African National Defence Force (SANDF) would assist in a water-bombing operation to extinguish the fires, its spokesman Simphiwe Dlamini said.
About 150 troops would also be deployed to make sure that criminals do not loot properties that have been vacated, he added.
In May, the Western Cape province declared a drought disaster after two reservoirs had completely dried up. It was said to have been the region's worst drought in more than a century.
Several other southern African nations were also affected by the two-year drought, which was caused by the El Nino climate phenomenon.
However, many parts of the region are now experiencing bumper maize harvests.

Boko Haram Kills 11 in Maiduguri

Borno state police commissioner Damian Chukwu said one civilian was killed as locals in the Jiddari Polo area of the city fled the insurgents, while 10 were killed nearby in three separate suicide blasts.
Wednesday night’s attacks took place on the eve of a visit by Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo, deputising for unwell President Muhammadu Buhari, to launch a major humanitarian aid programme.
The raid came barely a month after a senior Boko Haram commander threatened to attack the city after he was released from government custody in exchange for 82 kidnapped schoolgirls.
Outlying districts of Maiduguri, including the university campus and camps for people displaced by the eight-year insurgency, have been hit repeatedly by Boko Haram suicide bombers.
But armed fighters have not managed to get through the tight security for more than a year.
The raid will likely raise fresh fears about the extent of government and military claims that the Islamic State group affiliate is all but defeated.
Chukwu and the military both confirmed that troops responded to an attempt by the suspected insurgents to attack a village outside the city.
Fighters thought to be loyal to the group’s embattled factional leader Abubakar Shekau stormed the Aridawari settlement, firing heavy weapons, including anti-aircraft guns, and burning down homes.
Residents said they then drove towards a military base through the Jiddari Polo area, firing guns and forcing locals to flee, before they headed towards the Giwa military barracks.
Chukwu said police and troops from the Nigerian Army 7th Division stationed in Maiduguri were deployed and “repelled the attack in a gun battle that lasted about an hour”.
“A civilian whose identity is yet to be ascertained was killed in a stampede while a soldier was reported wounded. Normalcy has been restored,” he said in a statement.
The police commissioner said the first of the three suicide bomb attacks happened in the Goni-Kachallari area of Maiduguri and targeted worshippers leaving a mosque.
“The suicide bomber and six others died, while 18 others were injured,” he said.
“The second suicide bomber detonated within the premises of the Chad Basin Development Authority in Maiduguri at about 2120 hours (2020 GMT),” he added.
“The suicide bomber and three others died. The third suicide bomber detonated across the road outside the CBDA premises, killing himself and one other person.”
Twenty-four people were injured in all three bombings, he said.
Hit-and-run raids were once a regular feature of Boko Haram’s Islamist insurgency, which since 2009 has left at least 20,000 people dead and made more than 2.6 million others homeless.
On December 27, 2015, just days after Buhari said the group was “technically defeated”, a raid and suicide bomb attack killed 22 in Jiddari Polo.
On March 14, 2014, Islamist fighters overran Giwa barracks and freed dozens of suspected insurgents held there.

THE SENATE
STUDENTS' UNION GOVERNMENT
UNIVERSITY OF NIGERIA
SUMMARY OF THE MEETING BETWEEN THE SUG SENATE AND THE UNIVERSITY ADMINSTRATION, HELD ON THE 5TH OF JUNE, 2017, AT THE CONFERENCE ROOM OF THE ADMINISTRATIVE BLOCK, UNN.
Greetings Great Lions and Lionesses!
In a bid to enhance the care and Welfare of all Students, the Senate House (as led by Dist. Sen. Asogwa, Izuchukwu and *Dist. Sen. Ewa, Timothy Obinna) had an exhaustive dialogue with the University Administration with Prof. B. C. Ozumba(Represented by the D.V.C. Admin.) Prof. C. A. Igwe, Prof. J.C. Ogbonna, Barr. C.C. Igbokwe, Prof. C.N. Ezeani, Prof. Uju, Omo amongst many others.
An Opening address was given by the Senate President, Dist. Sen. Asogwa, Izuchukwu. The Senate President thanked the school for providing a conducive environment for proper dialogue after which he presented some student issues to the Administration.
In addition, to the presentation of the Senate President, the Deputy Senate President; Dist. Sen. Ewa, Timothy, presented and gave a little elaboration on other challenges facing the students in the University Community. Thereafter, the Administration as led by the DVC Admin. Prof. C. A. Igwe, began to look at the issues item by item. The issues include;
1. REHABILITATION OF THE MAIN ROAD OF UNEC ENTRY POINT (GATE)
The administration expressed their empathy for the dilapidated road, but according to the DVC, the rehabilitation of that road is on the priority list of projects to be done by the school, the only constraint is finance. He assured that the road would be rehabilitated once funds come.
2. FIXING OF AUDIOVISUAL AIDS IN LECTURE THEATRES.
The Administration deliberated on the fixing of Audiovisual aids such as projectors in lecture theatres, they saw this as an effective way of advancing optimal learning and performance in the University. Consequently, the Administration promised to look carefully into this issue.
3. STOCKING OF VETERINARY TEACHING FARM AND OTHER FACULTY WORK AREAS.
The Administration expressed deep concern, about the State of the Faculty of Veterinary medicine and other faculties in the University. The DVC Admin. Notified the Senate that the University is doing all it can to ensure that all its faculties have adequate facilities, however funding remains a major constraint. He also informed the House that some of the projects like the re-stocking of the University Library are been handled by philanthropists and well-meaning individuals in the society. Consequently the administration promised to look into the state of its faculties and seek to improve their standards even if it amounts to external sourcing of funds.
4. EXTENSION OF THE TIME AT WHICH HOSTELS ARE LOCKED.
In order to ensure optimal levels of studies by students staying in the hostels the Senate appealed to the Administration to consider extending the time at which hostels are locked. This appeal was borne out of the fact that most hostels are too noisy and uncondusive for in-depth study, thus decreasing student overall performance.
In response to this the Prof C.A. Igwe expressed how surprised he was that hostels were locked by 9:00PM and even said that was the first time he heard it.However, he said that even if that is the case, the University may have thought it wise to lock the hostels by 9PM for security reasons.
Nevertheless, the Administration assured the Senate that it would consider extending the time at which these hostels are locked, provided that Lions and Lionesses behave themselves in a dignified manner.
5. IMPROVED MAINTENANCE OF HOSTELS
The Senate called the attention of the University Administration to the poor state of the hostels especially the toilets of hostels and appealed that the Administration improves the maintenance of hostels.
In response to the plea, the Administration informed the Senate, that most of the problems in the hostels were caused and aggravated by students. It drew the attention of the Senate to the Male hostels where males pour water indiscriminately(even on cleaners), excrete on the floor of toilets, dump plates with food on the ground where they rot and decay and other unhealthy practices. It also expressed deep displeasure over the Female hostels, that had their toilets repaired few months ago, but currently it is in a very messy state.
The Administration pointed that it knows that it's her function to maintain hostels but if Students do not change their philosophy and lifestyle towards proper hygiene then the hostels would not get any better. The Administration therefore appeals to all Students staying in Hostels to practice standard and healthy practices, even as it would partner with the Dean of Students in order to improve the maintenance of Hostels.
6. EXTENSION OF COURSE REGISTRATION PERIOD.
Regarding this issue, the Administration said that it would not change its procedures For course registration. It notifies all students to register their courses as at when due, but if any Faculty has a particular /peculiar problem it should meet its Dean, for quick rectification.
7. INSTALLMENT OF STREET LIGHTS ON THE STREETS OF THE UNIVERSITY.
The Senate drew the attention of the Administration on how dark, horrible and terrifying the school looks like at night, Especially on the streets of the Medical Centre, Nkrumah, Alvan and other streets.
The Administration expressed great shock on hearing this as it says it repaired the lights of these places some time ago. Consequently the Administration noted and promised to get to the root of this problem as soon as possible.
The Panel discussed other issues and the Administration noted all the appeals made by the Senate to it and promised to work diligently to see to the granting of most of the appeals as soon as possible.
The Dialogue ended with a closing remark by Prof. Uju, Omo, the Dean of the Students affairs who acknowledged that it is truly a time for the University to retreat and work on enhancing the Care and Welfare of Students.
The Senate heartily thanks the University Administration as led by the Vice Chancellor Prof. B.C. Ozumba and his indefatigable team, for providing an avenue for proper dialogue and sound reasoning among herself and her students.

He also informed the House that some of the projects like the re-stocking of the University Library are been handled by philanthropists and well-meaning individuals in the society. Disable 4-year-old Boy Starves to Death
In an unfortunate development, a four-year-old, Chadrack Mbala Mulo disabled schoolboy starved to death as he stayed with his mother’s corpse for more than two weeks.
The boy, who is mute and autistic, was found with his arms wrapped around the decomposed body of his mum Esther Eketi-Mulo in their northeast London flat.
An inquest heard how the heartbreaking find on October 20 came after Chadrack was unable to raise the alarm when his mum died at the start of the month after an epileptic fit.
According to his death report, Chadrack died of malnutrition and dehydration and autism spectrum disorder on October 18, a few days before he was discovered.
Neighbours at the Trelawney Estate in Hackney reportedly thought the stench coming from the family’s flat was from the mum’s cooking.
Coroner Mary Hassel said in her report:
“Chadrack had learning difficulties and, when his mother died unexpectedly at home on 1 or 2 October 2016, he did not know how to call for help or feed himself properly.”
Staff at his school, Morningside Primary, had visited the home twice and rang the bell several times in early October but could not get in.
The Coroner said:
“They … could not gain access to the block of flats where Chadrack and his mother lived.
“The likelihood is that Chadrack lived alone in the family home for over a fortnight after his mother’s death.
“He was found a couple of days after his own death, with his arms around her (the mother) body.
“She was by then very decomposed.”
The case has raised questions over school procedures when children are absent.

ISIS Claims Responsibility for Iran 💥Attack, 7 Killed💐

Attackers raided Iran's parliament and opened fire at the Mausoleum of Ayatollah Khomeini a few kilometres south of the capital today morning, in near simultaneous assaults that killed up to seven people, media reported. ISIS has claimed responsibility, AFP reported quoting the terrorist group's Amaq news agency said. Tasmin news agency said there were unconfirmed reports that the attackers had taken four hostages inside the parliament building. Three assailants, one with a pistol and two with AK-47 assault rifles, carried out the attack in central Tehran, lawmaker Elias Hazrati told state television. The attackers killed seven people and wounded several others, Tasmin said.
Transparent car made of acrylic

The data from the sensors is used to make driver assist systems work in a bid to protect drivers, passengers and pedestrians in emergency situations.
Included in the acrylic car is an advanced radar that can be used to warn drivers of possible collisions and pedestrians, as well as spark mitigation braking and emergency braking.
A new ‘active’ seat belt system is fitted in the vehicle but in a real car that is forced to stop suddenly, it could help manage occupant energy during a crash.
The new seatbelts can reduce slack in driving situations and decrease the possibility of passengers being out of position and more susceptible to injury, the company said.
