Kim Kardashian thanks Donald Trump for Granting Alice Johnson Clemency
Never underestimate the power of Kim Kardashian's influence.
Last week, the 37-year-old Keeping Up With the Kardashians star traveled from Calabasas, Calif., to Washington, D.C., with the intent of persuading President Donald Trump to grant clemency to Alice Johnson, a first-time nonviolent drug offender who had been given a life sentence without parole. Trump forgave Alice Wednesday, a White House spokesperson confirmed to E! News. Relieved, Kardashian tweeted, "BEST NEWS EVER!!!!"
Hours after President Trump granted clemency to Alice Johnson, she was released from federal prison in Aliceville, Ala., where she has been serving her time since 1996. Footage released by NBC News showed the emotional moment Johnson reunited with family members.
On Twitter Wednesday, Kardashian thanked Kushner, Trump and everyone else who "contributed countless hours to this important moment" for Johnson. "Her commutation is inspirational and gives hope to so many others who are also deserving of a second chance." Kardashian hopes "to continue this important work by working together with organizations who have been fighting this fight for much longer than I have and deserve the recognition."
She went on to say, "The phone call I just had with Alice will forever be one of my best memories. Telling her for the first time and hearing her screams while crying together is a moment I will never forget."
Sister Khloe is also very proud of her sister. She tweeted, "Kimberly you are such a beautiful person inside and out!! I am constantly amazed by your determination! No matter what, you never let anyone else dictate your life! What?s right is right! You did what was right! God bless you ??".
Beyonce and Jay Z Show off Twins Rumi and Sir Carter
Beyonce and Jay-Z's On the Run II tour just started and it's already making headlines!
The couple is currently kicking off their stadium tour in Cardiff and fans at the show are posting pics and videos from the epic music event on social media. One major moment in the concert that had social media buzzing was when the couple appeared to show off their twins Rumi Carter and Sir Carter in a photo.
Social media users have posted images of the couple holding babies, alongside a series of messages. One message reads "love never changes" while another reads "love is universal."
But it sounds like the twins weren't featured in this part of the show. The couple's rep told Buzzfeed that "it's not" Bey and Jay's twins in the photo.
It appears that the twins were actually featured in a video towards the end of the concert though. That video gave fans a glimpse into the couple's family life, including sweet moments with Blue Ivy.
The video also features footage of Bey's pregnancy with the twins and later shows her holding her babies after giving birth.

DR Congo: 11 dead and 900 escape in jail attack
Eleven people were killed and more than 900 inmates have escaped after unidentified assailants attacked a jail in the Democratic Republic of Congo's restive east, an official said.
"The Kangwayi prison in Beni was attacked at 3:30 pm by assailants whose identity is not yet known," Julien Paluku, governor of North Kivu province, told reporters on Sunday.
"For the moment, out of 966 prisoners, there are only 30 left in the prison."
The Beni area and the neighbouring town of Butembo had been put under curfew from 6:30 pm, according to Paluku.
"Only police officers and soldiers should be out from this time," he said.
Located in the north of the troubled North Kivu province, Beni has been the scene of a wave of violence since 2014 that has seen nearly 700 civilians killed, many of them hacked to death.
The government blames the killings on a rebel group, the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF).
Not much is known of the group, which appears to be dominated by Ugandan Muslims who were initially focused on overthrowing Uganda's President Yoweri Museveni.
Several dozen suspected ADF members were imprisoned at the Kangwayi jail.
The attack came a day after the ADF attacked a police station and a prosecutor's office in the capital Kinshasa, killing a police officer and seriously injuring four others after a series of similar attacks over the past three weeks.
It also comes after two jailbreaks in Congo in the past month.
On May 19, dozens of prisoners escaped from a dilapidated prison in Kasangulu, about 40 km west of Kinshasa.Just two days earlier, rebels from Bundu Dia Kongo (BDK) - a secessionist rebel group that rejects Kinshasa's authority and wants to set up a parallel state in the west of the country - had attacked Kinshasa's main prison, freeing their leader and 50 others.
The violence has erupted as Congo is mired in a deep political crisis tied to President Joseph Kabila's hold on power.
Tension has been mounting across the nation since December when Kabila's second and final term officially ended.
Under a power-sharing agreement brokered by the influential Catholic Church on New Year's Eve, Kabila is due to remain in office until elections at the end of 2017.
However, Kabila earlier this month seemed to back away from the deal to hold a vote this year.
"I have not promised anything at all," Kabila told the German weekly Der Spiegel in a rare media interview. "I wish to organise elections as soon as possible".
"We want perfect elections, not just elections," he said.

Police Parade Notorious Kidnapper Onuamadike

Police Parade Notorious Kidnapper Onuamadike, Six Gang Members
Nigeria Police Force officers paraded a notorious kidnap gang leader, Chukwudi Dumeme Onuamadike, also known as "Evans," and six of his co-conspirators at the Lagos State Police Command on Sunday.
Officers stormed the kidnappers' den and engaged in a gun battle which lasted several hours before arresting Mr. Onuamadike and six of his gang members in Ikeja, Lagos State, according to the press release issued by Mr. Moshood.
Their victims include: Mbarikatta William Uboma, Paul Cole, Mohammed Jamal (a Lebanese national), Kingsley Nwokenta, Anthony Ozoanidobi, Leo Abraham, Ojukwu Cosmas, James Uduji, Chief Raymond Okoye, Uche Okoroafor, Elias Ukachukwu, Francis Umeh, and Danatus Dunu.

The police explained that the gang held their victims captive at House No. 21 Prophet Asaye Close New Igando, Lagos State. The gang would demand millions of dollars in ransom in exchange for the victims, some of whom were held for several months.
Such high ransom payments allowed Mr. Onuamadike to purchase choice properties and luxuries, including two mansions in Magodo GRA Phase 2 worth an estimated N300m, two houses in Accra, Ghana, and exotic cars, expensive watches, and jewelry.
The gang members arrested alongside Mr. Onuamadike were identified as: Felix Chinemerem, Nwosu Chikodi Chukwuma, Uchechukwu Amadi, Ogechi Amadi, Suoya Paul, and Ikenna Emeka.
Police recovered the following arms from the notorious gang: five AK-47 rifles, one AK-49 rifle, two double-barrel rifles, two English pistols, 59 AK-47 magazines with ammunition, 1272 rounds of AK-47 live ammunition, and five different plate numbers.
The public relations officer described the arrest of Mr. Onuamadike and his gang as a “huge success,” ensuring Nigerians that the Force would continue its efforts to prevent kidnappings and prosecute perpetrators.
